02 / MATERIALS & MOVEMENT
Choose fabric with purpose
Discuss nylon or polyester blends with elastane based on your desired hand feel, weight, stretch and recovery. Compare samples in the intended color: opacity can change when fabric is stretched. Review the finished garment under realistic movement and lighting instead of assuming every fabric will meet the same coverage requirements.
Refine the fit
The waistband, crotch shape and inseam work together to determine how leggings feel in movement. Review the waist and hip measurements, rise, gusset, seam locations and ankle opening. Test sitting, squatting and bending on the sample, and record changes before grading the approved fit into additional sizes.
